About this map
Chokepoint markers sit at the coordinates in our registry. Trade lane lines trace each lane's usual routing: from its origin ports, through the chokepoints that routing passes in order, to its destination ports. These are straight segments between known points, not a shipping route or a great circle path, so a line here is illustrative of the routing, not a precise track. Some lanes note in their own page that the chokepoint order is our inference rather than a published routing.
